Cheyanne Forgatch, the owner of one of the many female-owned shops off of Main Street in Pitman, hands out S'mores cups, encouraging women to celebrate Valentine’s Day at Gals Night Out.

Since 2016, Cheyanne Forgatch has been delighting confectionery enthusiasts with her handcrafted artisanal marshmallows at her charming storefront nestled in the heart of Pitman, The Artisan Marshmallow Co. It was a fantastic discovery for me during a vibrant Girls' Night Out event, where I found myself wandering off of Main Street and stumbling upon this hidden gem among the cluster of storefronts in Pitman. While most establishments offered simple water or chips, Forgatch’s confectionery truly stole the show with its offering of delectable mini S'mores cups crafted with locally sourced ingredients and devoid of any preservatives. To elevate the experience further, Forgatch had thoughtfully arranged fire pits and inviting benches outside her shop, creating a cozy ambiance where patrons could indulge in their sweet streets while basking in the warmth of the crackling flames. Forgatch started this business in 2016 after her massage therapy career ended, and she pursued her real dream, sweets. “They are fun. When I started, I was a massage therapist, I wanted more fun and not have to hear about people’s problems.” It is clear that she enjoys what she does, making people smile. This is even more evident in the making of her marshmallows. She has over 46 different flavors ranging from Swedish fish to Fireball Whiskey, even including specialty Valentine flavors for the event, Conversation hearts, and Cookie Monster. Along with the extensive flavor list, what sets her apart from generic bags of marshmallows is the locally sourced ingredients, no preservatives, and the fact that she makes them fresh every morning. When asked what makes her confectionary so special, she explained.

“Lots of love, ha-ha, no, they are made all fresh every morning when other companies leave them on shelves for months.” Along with an impressive array of marshmallows, she makes chocolates and has a section of flavor extracts and maple syrup. Forgatch’s dedication to her craft and an unwavering pursuit of excellence has not gone unnoticed within the culinary community. Her passion for confectionery earned her 2nd place in the Dessert Wars competition in Philadelphia, a testament to the exceptional quality and creativity infused into all the treats that come out of her kitchen. Despite her success, she remains acutely aware of the demanding nature of the business, recognizing that the journey has been one of continuous learning and growth. As she reflects on her experiences, she humbly admits she's “learned tons and not enough.” With this, she makes a name for herself as well as inspires women of all ages.
